They pulled it off pretty well though, and thank God for Zoom.
Anyone who’s done a zoom call had to relate to the one award speech that had the zoom mic still on mute.
Like the recognizable phrase “You’ve Got Mail” came into the vernacular thanks to AOL.
the phrase “Unmute Your Mic” has now become ubiquitous.
Just to touch on some of the highlights for me,
I loved Jane Fonda’s staying true to herself with using the platform to make a political statement
while demonstrating a seasoned wisdom to make a statement that no-one could have a conflict with
by talking about the beauties of diversity and inclusion.
I also cheered for Anya Taylor-Joy for winning Best Actress in her category for her work on “The Queens Gambit” that I had just recently binged watched on Netflix.
I had turned on Netflix around 11:30 one night and saw the title, and knowing nothing about it decided to give it a try. Well, I found it so engaging and was so blown away by the production value and was so mesmerized by this new actress’s performance that I couldn’t stop watching.
Anya Taylor-Joy is on her way to superstardom.
Like a great book you just cant put down, every time a new episode started I just had to keep watching even when I realized the sun had started rising outside. It was 8 a.m when the last episode concluded and I finally went to get some sleep, knowing I had just watched something magnificent.
When they announced the winners and “The Queens Gambit” won multiple awards I called friends that I told about it and had no hesitation saying “I told You So” with pride in my discernment.
Though having nothing to do with the Golden Globes themselves, it was nice hearing Happy Birthday wishes being sent to Tommy Tune. I’ve included a photograph in this gallery of the freakishly tall Tommy with me and Tony Award winning producer and friend Pat Addiss at event we were at together.
There’s more commentary getting placed on the individual photographs in the gallery
but I always make a point to highlight Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban because of their inspiring romance and marriage, it gives me hope 😉
